Spud and Codee- the heart and soul of BLACKLUSSET
SHELTIES & COLLIE ROUGH

OUR HOME

Our home is situated on 10 private acres close to Australia's Capital City of Canberra in the Lake George Winery area.  Filled with native birds, and many kangaroos roaming freely on the grounds, sheep grazing nextdoor, the house and property are set at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac.  I must not forget "Wa-hoo" the resident magpie - see him above - he did not want to miss out on his picture being taken!  "Wa-hoo" oversears just about everything that goes on at BLACKLUSSET.

Formerly the beautiful residence buiit and owned by All Breeds Judge David (and Juanita) Strachan of Thasrite Boxer Kennel fame - the house was built in 1989. I purchased the property in July 1999 and relocated the collies, Codee and Justa the cockatiel, from my property in Annangrove in Sydney,

Designed and built by the Strachans to cater for their show and breeding Boxers and Boston Terriers, no expense has been spared with for dog luxury.

I have since renovated the kennels and added an undercover excercise area and excercise runs and life for my collies and shelties is pretty wonderful at Wamboin.

2005-7 I have spent renovating the beautiful home and we are nearly completion - hopefully by mid 2008 so I can then concentrate on attending more dog shows.

The Australian drought of the last few years has hit the area hard and Wamboin is just starting to recover, however in that time I had ample water supply which I cannot say for any of my neighbours. Just the grass has suffered I managed to save all the trees as there is a bore for watering all the garden.

It usually snows 3 or 4 times a year and a lovely cool north easterly sea breeze from Batemans Bay - called by the locals "The Doctor" usually rolls in every afternoon, so the house is always cool even in the hot summer months.

The superb Dog Complex of the ACTCA is only 12 minutes by car and that is where I do nearly all my showing except for attending Specialties on the odd occasion if we are lucky enough to have English judges in attendance then I have to travel nearly 3 hours to the Dog Complex at Erskine Park in Sydney.
